Ankit Chadha, a renowned storyteller associated with the tradition of Dastangoi, died in a tragic accident near Pune on Wednesday night, local media reported.
Quoting police officials, the reports said that the accident occurred at Uksan Lake near Kamshet, 60 kilometers away from Pune.
Chadha was known for his unique style of storytelling in Urdu. Over the past few years, he, along with the like of Himanshu Vajpayee and others, had performed at various national and international stages, including universities like Harvard, Yale and Toronto.
Police stated that Chadha and his friend had gone for a walk along the shores of Uksan lake on Wednesday evening. His friend reportedly told police that Chadha drowned in the lake after he slipped on the lakeside.
After the locals informed the police, his body was taken out around 8:30 pm by police and locals, the report added.
According to a report in Pune Mirror, Ankit had gone to the lake with his friend Aparna.
