Tata Nexon SUV Becomes 1st Ever Indian Made Car to Get 5-Star at Global NCAP Safety Crash Test Rating

Tata Nexon SUV has made history by going the distance and becoming India's first ever 5 Star car. The sub-compact SUV now stands with a 5-star safety rating in front adult occupant protection. And gets 3-stars for child occupant protection at the rear bench.

The model offers good protection for both adult head and neck, marginal protection for the driver chest and adequate protection for passenger chest. The pedals showed some risk for the lower legs due to their displacement. The 18-month-old child dummy received good protection while the 3-year-old child passenger showed high readings in chest and head exposure.

The Nexon has achieved this by scoring 16.06 points out of a possible 17 - the highest as yet for any Indian made car.

'This a huge landmark for car safety in India. The Nexon was engineered in India and this shows the huge capability of the domestic industry to achieve excellence in safety design and performance,' said David Ward, secretary general, Global NCAP.
