Telengana government will issue an ordinance at the cabinet meeting to control illegal business growing in this state.Agitated over adulteration of several food items by some traders that is causing serious health problems to people, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asked officials to prepare a comprehensive law that will strengthen the Prevention of Detention (PD) Act that is currently enforced on the offenders. The ordinance will cover subjects such as online rummy, fake certificates, and spurious seeds, fake certificates.
Though the government earlier considered issuing an ordinance to control spurious seeds, the chief minister insisted on a comprehensive law to deal with all other offences where PD Act can be implemented.
At present, fake certificates, online rummy, adulteration of food items is not covered under the PD Act. The TRS government decided to expand the scope of PD Act in a way that it can be used against these crimes.Chandrasekhar Rao said, 'The adulteration of food items is a serious problem to the society. Unaware of the consequences some businessmen are in indulging in such heinous activity to gain big profits. They should be identified and punished severely so that no trader would like to go for adulteration'.
