Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said on Sunday the BJP's victory in recently concluded urban local body (ULB) polls in Uttar Pradesh (UP) would serve as an additional booster in Gujarat where the party's win is a foregone conclusion.
He also said the party is set to win Himachal Pradesh where elections were held on November 9. The two-day polls in Gujarat are due on December 9 and 14. The election results of the two states would be out on December 18.
'The BJP will win in HP. The party will also win Gujarat. The BJP's sweeping victory in the ULB elections in UP will be additional advantage for the party in Gujarat,' Khattar said. The BJP has won 14 of the 16 mayoral seats in UP, with the two others going to the BSP, while the Samajwadi Party and the Congress scored nil.
Khattar, at Patna on Sunday to attend the marriage ceremony of Utkarsh, son of Bihar deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, made these observations on the sidelines of the conference of Pravasi Haryanavis settled in Bihar which he addressed in the morning. The meet was organized by Haryana government and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
