Thiruvananthapuram: The Greenfield Stadium at Karyavattom here is all set to host its first international match.The third match of the T20 series between India and New Zealand to be played on November 7 will also be the first ever T20 international match hosted by Kerala.According to the information provided by the authorities, both squads will arrive at Thiruvananthapuram in a chartered flight from Rajkot around 11.30 pm.
The accommodation facility for the teams has been arranged at the Leela Hotel in Kovalam. On Monday, the Kiwis will take part in a practice session at the stadium in Karyavattom Sports Hub in the morning hours. The practice session for Indian squad has been scheduled in the afternoon.The cricket fans are eagerly awaiting the international match that returned to the city after a gap of 29 years. It was in 1988 that the city hosted an international match for the last time when the West Indian squad led by Vivian Richards took on India at the University Stadium.The Caribbeans had smashed the Indian side led by Ravi Shastri by nine wickets.
The Greenfield stadium hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2015 National Games Of the five pitches in the stadium, three have been kept ready for the match.
